Battle for Change
Documentary · Kathmandu · 2024
Franny is a Swiss creator who wanted her reach to count for something. Battle for Change is the documentary we made with her in Kathmandu: the story of a school for street children, and the dance room she set out to help rebuild.
One journey, one story, one film.
Franny wanted her reach to matter
Franny had built a real audience and wanted it to count for something. She led the project and brought us in to put it on film.
A film and a dance room to rebuild
A documentary, and a dance room to help rebuild in Kathmandu. We came in to plan the shoot and the interviews. Ten days on the ground.
Ten days on the ground, planned with Franny
We flew to Kathmandu
From Frankfurt to Nepal, around 6,500 km. Living alongside the project, not visiting it.
Ten days on the ground
The school, the children, the dance room, and Franny teaching a routine. We filmed it all.
Ten days. Two cameras. One story.

On location
The team on the ground in Kathmandu, cameras in hand.

Between locations
Filming from the road, moving between the school and the city.
10 days in Kathmandu · April 2023 · ~200 children on site
Back home, we cut the film
A week or two at the edit. Ten days of footage shaped into one film, then refined with Franny until it was right.
We posted the film
We published the documentary to Franny's audience. The reach she had built finally had a job to do.
